Threads is a photographic project developed during my residency in Landskrona, Sweden. A central theme in my artistic practice is the exploration of urban development and its representation through photography. This context allowed me to translate my ongoing inquiry into the visual and spatial dynamics of a city shaped by its industrial past and new future visions. During my time in Landskrona, I lived in an area undergoing significant urban and structural transformation. My focus concentrated on this area, which is part of the “Center-East Plan”, an urban development strategy aimed at reshaping and revitalizing Landskrona’s city center and its eastern extension, along with adjacent suburban projects in Borsta-husen. These zones provided the geographical framework for the project. Through repeated, conceptually driven walks in these areas, I documented fragments of the city in flux, paying particular attention to facades, building materials, and transitional urban forms. Parallel to these observations, I encountered promotional imagery depicting people eagerly anticipating life in a new, modernized Landskrona. These advertisements became a second visual and conceptual layer within the project. Reprinted, torn, and recontextualized as posters, these ads mimic the appearance of found urban ephemera. The use of collage not only serves as a method of presentation but also references the city itself, an assemblage of temporal and material layers, continuously constructed and deconstructed over time.
